# Installing the widget

> The embed snippet, allowed websites, e-mail replies and the JavaScript API.

## The snippet

Each widget has its own key. Paste its snippet before `</body>`:

```html
<script src="https://luxivo.app/widget.js" data-key="wk_…" async></script>
```

Add `data-position="left"` to put the chat button on the left, and `data-locale="pl"` to force a language.

The chat runs in its own frame, so your website's styles can't break it and it can't change your
website.

## Allowed websites

In the widget settings, list the hostnames the widget may run on, e.g. `example.com` or
`*.example.com` for every subdomain. Leave the list empty to allow any website.

## E-mail replies

Visitors are asked for their e-mail after their first message (or before it, if you turn on
**Ask for an e-mail first**). When you reply and the visitor has left the page, they get your
reply by e-mail. They can answer that e-mail, or open the conversation again from the link in it.

Your team gets an e-mail when a visitor writes and nobody has read it within a minute. Each
side gets one e-mail per unread conversation, not one per message.

## Language

The widget speaks English, Polish, German, Spanish and French, and picks the visitor's language
automatically, in this order:

1. `data-locale="pl"` on the script tag, or `Luxivo("setLocale", "pl")`
2. the `lang` of your page's `<html>` element (it's watched, so a single-page app that switches
   language updates the widget right away)
3. the visitor's browser languages
4. the widget's default language from its settings

Regions work too: `pl-PL` becomes `pl`. Any other language falls back to English. In the widget
settings you can translate the header title and greeting per language; languages you leave empty
use the base texts. E-mails to visitors are sent in the visitor's language.

## Office hours and reply times

The widget header shows who is around: the photos of up to three teammates with a green dot for
those online (add yours under **Settings → Account → Profile photo**), or a friendly mascot when
nobody has a photo. Under the title it says "We're online", or "Usually replies in ~5 min" once
you have a few answered conversations, or when you're back if you set **Office hours** in the
widget settings. When nobody is online or it's outside office hours, visitors who write are told
they'll get an e-mail with your reply if they leave.

## The Luxivo badge

"Powered by Luxivo" shows at the bottom of the chat until you're on a paid plan that includes
removing it. It stays during the free trial.

## JavaScript API

Control the widget from your website. Calls made before the widget loads are queued.

```js
Luxivo("open");      // open the chat
Luxivo("close");     // close it
Luxivo("toggle");
Luxivo("hide");      // hide the chat button
Luxivo("show");
// Force a language (otherwise it follows the page's <html lang>).
Luxivo("setLocale", "pl");
// Signed-in customers: skip asking for their e-mail.
Luxivo("identify", { email: "jane@example.com", name: "Jane" });
```

To call it before the snippet has loaded, define a queue first:

```html
<script>
  window.Luxivo = window.Luxivo || function () { (Luxivo.q = Luxivo.q || []).push(arguments); };
</script>
```
